What should I bring with me?
We provide all specialist equipment, including buoyancy aids and wetsuits (if required). You’ll need to bring:
- Swimwear or quick-drying sportswear to wear under a wetsuit
- Old trainers or water shoes (flip-flops, crocs and sandals are not suitable)
- A towel and a change of clothes
- Suncream and a bottle of water on warm days
Further details will be included with your confirmation email when you book online.
Do you provide all the equipment?
We provide all necessary paddlesport equipment, including boats, boards, paddles, buoyancy aids, and wetsuits (where required).
Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes, but it must meet safety standards. If you’d like to use your own paddleboard, kayak, or buoyancy aid, please let us know in advance so we can check if it is suitable.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We aim to run sessions in most weather conditions, but safety is our priority. If conditions are unsafe (e.g. there is a weather warning), we may reschedule or cancel the session, and we will contact you as soon as possible.
Are you open all year round?
Yes! We change our opening hours in the winter months, so there won’t always be someone in the office, but we can still get out out on the water.
ACTIVITIES & SAFETY
Do I need experience to take part?
No experience is necessary! We cater for complete beginners to experienced paddlers, and our instructors will provide guidance based on your skill level.
What if I'm nervous and not confident in the water?
That’s absolutely fine! Our sessions take place in calm, sheltered environments, and our instructors are trained to help build your confidence at your own pace.
Do I have to stand up on a paddleboard?
Not at all! Despite the name, stand-up paddleboarding doesn’t mean you have to stand. Many people start on their knees or sitting down, and we’ll give you tips if you’d like to try standing up.
Can I swap between different craft during a session?
This depends on the session. Some activities allow participants to switch between kayaks and paddleboards, while others focus on one craft. If you’d like to try both, let us know when booking.
Are the sessions suitable for non-swimmers?
Yes! You don’t need to be a confident swimmer, but you should be comfortable around water. All participants wear a buoyancy aid, and our instructors are trained in water safety and rescue techniques.
What qualifications do your instructors have?
Our instructors hold British Canoeing qualifications and are trained in first aid and water rescue. We are also AALA certified and fully insured.
Are there any age restrictions?
Generally, our activities are for ages 8 and up. We can accept children as young as 6, but they must go on the water with a responsible adult in a double craft. If you have further questions about this then please contact us.
There is no upper age limit to our activities, providing you are generally fit and well and able to participate in light exercise.
I'm booked in for a session, when should I arrive?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your activity starts to allow time for check-in and preparation. After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details you need for your arrival.
